The Honeymoon: Paris

I'm so excited to share with y'all photos from our honeymoon! Though we only went to four cities, I took a LOT of pics, so narrowing them down will be a challenge.

Our honeymoon was an absolute blast. Zach and I have both been to Europe several times--once together, as you've probably read. :-) This time was different. We were married, of course, so that was awesome. This was the first time we'd ever gone to France and Italy in the winter, the off season. And we were accompanied by a suitcase of wedding clothes and our photographer, Stacy Reeves--along with her man Jason and his parents at times. There's lots to tell, so I'll get right to it!

We left our wedding at the Piazza in the Village and headed to my hotel for a quick change before Zach's brother Grant took us to the airport. We were still dazed from the wedding when we boarded the plane and I was excited to sleep on our overnight flight! No can do, as loud babies cried all night long. We arrived in Frankfurt for a layover, and after walking a couple miles inside to get to our gate, we had some good German coffee.

I was so excited to be able to lay horizontally for an hour and I fell asleep, despite my coffee. My new husband gleefully took my photo. Not nice!

By lunchtime we were in PARIS! The city of looove! The city of lights! ok ok, I'm getting ahead of myself. We took a taxi to our hotel-- Hotel Londres Eiffel -- and took the tiny elevator up to our room. Though it was called the Poets Room-- the door said Victor Hugo-- one of my favorite French authors. yay!

Inside the small but very neat room, we were treated to walls covered in sheet music.

And the chair! And curtains!

This is the quintessentially French view we had outside the window-- Le Tour Eiffel, but of course!

We quickly changed for the weather and met our touring friends Stacy and Jason downstairs. Stacy had been to Paris before, but Jason, a fellow Francophile--and a native Lousianan--had not. First stop was the oh-so-close Eiffel Tower. I love that our hotel was *rightthere*

Next, we headed over to the Seine to take a boat tour. Stacy's beret is so French.

After our tour, we walked over to a nearby cafe, Le Champs de Mars and enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Good times were had.

My cappuccino. So good!

After a much-needed good night's rest, Zach and I were caught up from jet lag and ready to see some sights. We met up with Stacy and Jason and ate breakfast at Le Dome. We took the metro to the Louvre and walked through the exterior.

Next, we went to a place I was DYING to go to. The flagship Christian Louboutin store!!! If you know me at all, you know about my obsession with these fabulous red-soled heels. Someday I will own a pair!

Stacy found a pair and she bought them!

This is the first place I saw this pair that matched Zach's wedding ring exactly. They now have them in the US, but... There's no way I'm paying $1800 for a pair of shoes. Even as sexy as these.

Love these!

I'm super glad I didn't know about these shoes before our wedding cause... HELLO?! Louboutins. purple feathers. omg!

Prying them off my feet when we left was pretty much impossible.

On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at a patisserie and had some sandwiches. Then it was time for our day after photo shoot!!! Check out the pics HERE. There are photos from Venice too, but I'll get to venice another post.

OK, next came THIS story. Read and then come back, K?

Jason proposed to Stacy at the Eiffel tower! And we were there! yaaay!

After our photo shoot and the epic proposal, we went to a seafood restaurant called Le Winch in Montmarte with my dear friends Maude and Claire. I met them while I was studying in Angers, France, and they, in turn, studied abroad at A&M where we became close. Last time we were in Paris, Zach and I stayed with Claire, and it was great to see them again.

We all enjoyed our delicious seafood, great company and fun drinks like the kir royale.

On the way home, we saw the sparkling Eiffel Tower again. :-)

So concludes my the first few days of our honeymoon recap. :-) Next up is the Phantom's Opera House-- Garnier Opera House and Angers! Thanks for reading!
